Class D amp with the most slam/punch

Since Peavey owns Trace Elliot maybe the Trace TE-1200 may be a contender for "the slammingest slamminin slammering class D EVAH!!!"

The 1000 I pictured came out about the time the MiniMega (also 1000 watts) did, and the engineer said that they tailored that one in some way, but the one I pictured was designed for... I believe "unbridled power" were his own words.

TH700. You just need to know how to set the eq, gain, and drive controls to pull out the slam and punch. It’s there, just takes experimenting, with each cab.

I think that must sound something like MMA fighting.

To me if the amp doesn't Snap, Crackle, and Pop that's winning at least half of the battle.

Your sound depends entirely on your cabinets. Amp don't make sound, they amplify a signal. Speakers make sound

I a/b’d the 751 side by side with TH500 and Berg Forte through a few different cabs, the common denominator was the 751, not the cab

I can't speak to other class D amps but my Darkglass Microtubes 900v2 atop a pair of Fender Bassman 410neo cabs is the punchiest rig I've ever experienced.

Not class D but a lot lighter and cheaper than the DB751 is the GK RB series. More slam than a class D head. And despite what some people are saying, we all know what you mean and it is definitely different.

Another vote for the Trickfish Bullhead 1k with appropriate cabbage. Being in the TF booth at NAMM'16 and feeling the visceral discombobulation in my gut when Richard Ruse cranked it up was all it took to make me sell all my Phil Jones Bass gear and jump on the Trickfish wagon.

Not necessarily. AFAIK, the Mesa 800W Subways all use the same output module, but @agedhorse has tuned them in different ways.

Agedhorse, please settle this.

In the case of the 800w Subway amps, all 4 models use the same module, the implementation of the TT and WD are very different tone wise from each other and different than the D-800/800+. Specifically different in how they feel and respond, especially when driven hard.

it’s really all about the overall design, and the intent/skill of the designer.

Interesting. I like the Fender tone universe, and I also like Aggie amps.

I've settled on the Streamliner 900 as far as Class D - and I've owned and gigged a bunch. Not the smallest / lightest Class D, but it's small and light. A bit older, but lot's of guys still gigging them. Can be had for a good price, and can still be serviced. Really nice heft to the notes. Nice big bottom end presence and very sweet top end. In the "Fender tone universe" to borrow a phrase.

I'm interested in the big Berg amps. Also interested in Trickfish. But I'm pretty happy where I'm at. The Quilter is pretty nice.

The old Thunderfunk amps are pretty great. They are very reasonable as far as size and weight. Lot's of comparisons between the TFB750/800 and the DB750/1. There was some thread where somebody did a "DB" setting for the T-Funk amps.

When my old Thunderfunk started acting up, I got into a rack set-up. Had a Fender TBP-1 pre (fabulous!), and a led-sled Carvin amp that bridged at 1000w. That was a nice rig. A bit heavy, but not really. Way lighter than a DB750.

It's something you feel in your body, like shock waves, and it's not necessarily volume related.

Not sure if it's something that can be measured by a device.

I'm gonna say if you don't know what it is, you've never felt it.
