classic bassguitar and amp combinations

my current combo is a cheap (although surprisingly good quality) Wesley bass (jaguar kinda shape, light blue, pearloid scratch) run through an ohm GA140 head and 1x15" cab. this was frankensteined from an old kustom KBA100 combo that packed in. the speaker is really matallic sounding though, quite cold. i'm sure it's the speaker cos with 2 amps and several basses, that tone has always been there. think when i upgrade to pro level, i'll definitely be lookin towards an ampeg to go with my di pinto belvedere deluxe due in august! 'mon the new bass!

There really isn't any "les paul/marshall stack" in the bass world. Bass isn't guitar and the same rules of convention that apply to guitar don't necessarily apply to bass.

Well you're half right on that.. ;) The head needs to be either an all tube SVT2 or if you're going to go more real "old school" without buying used. something along the lines of this 300W all tube monster: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
