I recentley downloaded a song by Shostakovich entitled Jazz Suite 1, Russian Waltz. I am a classical music nub, so I guess my question is, which symphony is this song from? I really dig it!

A suite is a collection of songs- I don't think the Jazz Suite (1 or 2) was part of something larger. What you heard, the Waltz, was just the first of three compositions in his first Jazz suite, and is followed by a Polka and Foxtrot, apparantly.

The version of the Waltz I have is incredible!! It is live and the audience sings a long... I am really digging it. Almost makes me wish I were Russian.
