A few months back I got back from a small tour over in Mexico. I had to ship all my gear from Cancun over the Gulf and to my home in Louisiana. When I got the gear out of the shipping crates I saw that they were quite tarnished.
The strings were all rusty feeling, the fingerboards were gunky, and the bridge and knobs were badly tarnished.
It was a mess.
So I decided to try and figure out the best way to clean this stuff off depending on wood type and hardware type. I did some research, got some words of advice from Michael Tobias, and spoke to some people over at Dana B. Goods on how best to clean tarnished hardware.
