Clever solution to neck/shoulder issues aggravated by bass weight

I've been using the Slinger strap for some time now through several gigs, and I love it. It did take a little while to get used to it, but it now feels great. My neck and shoulders don't get beat up and horribly sore as they used to. I feel better through the length of a gig, without feeling worn out by the end of the third set. I use flushmount straplocks, and have no intention of selling the basses I have them on. I'm sold.

My shoulder gets sore just thinking about my old strap.

It's been several months that I've been using a Slinger waist strap exclusively on my Variax 5, a MM knockoff I built and a Steinberger Spirit. I have reworked the lower bout mount, and now attach the strap, under the lower horn, on the bottom side of the bass. I find the pivot point and mount it just off that, so that I get no neck dive. I moved the mount on the bottom of the bass, about an inch and a half higher, to minimize the forward tilt.

I'm very satisfied with the strap. The freedom of not having any weight on my shoulders is fantastic. It took a few gigs to get used to the change in position and movement. The bass is now actually higher than I used to wear it, but not by much.

As I told my brother-in-law, I have no more shoulder pain, but now my pants fall down. (not really)

Okay, here's my situation...

Had spinal surgey at L4/L5 2 years ago, but have permanent nerve damage that causes chronic pain from the right hip all the way into the right foot at times.

Found out recently that I also have a herniated disc in my neck which causes serious discomfort along the left side of my neck, collarbone & shoulder.

Already switched to a lighter, hollow-bodied violin bass about 6 years ago (though I still use my Ric frequently because of what my band does).

This product sounds like it may provide enough additional relief that I'm not all knotted up at the end of a gig.

My question is this: At $30 or $40 depending on which item you go with, is there a guarantee that they work as advertised? Not in a financial position right now where I can eat the loss if they don't work for me.
