I used to use the D'Addario NS Micro, but they had a hard time with the E, then I found their Universal Micro, which tunes the E much better. It has a screen that can rotate the read out in 4 directions, and the extension is infinitely adjustable.

This is simply the basic D'A NS Micro tuner head on a different mounting system. The head is actually detachable and can be re-mounted on other mounting systems (I've jury-rigged other NS Micro mounting systems for my banjos). And yes, it works on a DB, depending on where you mount it, just as the standard NS Micro clip-on works on a DB depending on where you mount it.

For example, for my DB, I've mounted the NS Micro clip-on on the E side of my Deuce bridge, where it picks up the E and everything else just fine.

Banjos are easy... String tension is pretty low.

If you ever want to experience the most difficult to tune instrument, try an F-style mandolin. 8 high tension strings on a floating adjustable bridge on a carved-top with no sound post. Tune any single string and 3 other strings go out of tune.

I love my Kliq Ubertuner. It's the only one I've found that's bright enough to be read in daylight (nothing can be seen in direct sunlight).

Lots of brands mentioned in this thread, but it looks as if you were referring to the D'Addario Micro NS. I don't know about that one, but the Kliq Ubertuner that I praised elsewhere works great on the bridge of my DB.

I know, I own one, although it is an A style. I learned early on that "mandolin" means "always out of tune," in some language other than English.

Highly reliable and pretty long battery life too.
Loaned mine to a guitar player couple of months back on a gig, got it back yesterday. Sigh.
