Where are you attaching it? Mine works great just above the bridge adjuster on the E side. If I'm playing it picks up only me. If I'm laying out it picks up everyone else.

Where are you attaching it? Mine works great just above the bridge adjuster on the E side. If I'm playing it picks up only me. If I'm laying out it picks up everyone else.
I have the Snark Super Tight SN-8....it works fine in a band setting. Clip it on either the E side bridge foot or just above the adjuster and it will isolate your bass quite well.

I'm using the Planet Waves NS-Mini Tuner. Clips onto the pegbox out-of-the-way & entirely unobtrusive! Works great, fast note recognition.

I really like the Planet Waves too. They just came out with a new version that has better software and more colors. Amazon is selling a 2-pack for $30. A great deal.
I tried the Planet Waves mini and found it worked reasonably well and loved that I could clip it on my bass bridge with no discernable effect, but the batteries always died within one week. One more piece of cheap crap from China that robs your $ and fails to live up to the hype...

Were you turning it off? I'm getting months of battery use out of mine.
I just bought a Snark SN-8, and it does a decent job of tuning. Damping the other strings helps isolate the E and it recognizes the note fairly quickly. As an intonation aid, it's got too many colors and bars to work well - still prefer my GoGo for watching intonation while playing. My problems with the GoGo (referenced earlier in this thread) seem to be related to battery life, though my current battery has 4-5 hours on it and still going strong. It's the best I've come across, and I just make sure to carry an extra battery.
I agree it does not get it spot on,although using the mic function on the Snark gets us a little closer in tune...

I also find that the Planet Waves NS-Mini Tuner works great for me, and have had no problem at all with battery life.
Here's another vote for the Patterson strobo clip. Goes on the treble side of my bridge, picks up all the strings, and works when I'm playing with others.
i had the same results as mentioned with the snarks. i got a meisel from gollihur and it seems to pick up the low E much easier than the snark does in gig situations.
how is the bat life on yours Patterson?
other that the Turbotuner Patterson's are the best right?
I use the pedal version from planet waves... I use the DC adactor because the bat when down in two uses, horryble bat life I hope is not the same for the clip on
I have replaced the battery twice in 2.5 yrs with my Peterson Strobo Clip. I currently use the tuner about 3 times per week in a gig situation, and a few more times during practice at home.
Last night it worked fine, both when plugged in with the amp turned on behind me, and without the amp turned, on in a noisy bar with other amplified instruments.
I use the Snark tuner on other instruments, but it doesn't work as well on my bass as the Strobo Clip.

Forgot to mention, and only FWIW, I clip the Strobo Clip on the G side of the bridge just below the strings.
I bought two SN-2's and unfortunately both now have broken at the socket. Prior to that both lose their rubber shoes that fit on one of the clamp feet. Yes the price is good, but when it breaks from the cheap plastic at the socket, it's virtually unusable and unfixable.
I can't recommend these anymore - if it can't handle the abuse of use in regular gigs over a few years, it's no good. They should've at least raised the cost and used some better plastic that would last longer. It only proves again the old adage: you get what you pay for.
Over time I've noticed it's also not very good at picking up the low E and performance degrades in noisy environments even tho it's suppose to tune through vibration.
I have a Meisel from AllHailBob/Mark and hopefully that will be alot more durable.
