Now i have searched the forum and turned up nothing on Clive basses.
See i was in a music store this week-end, and i was looking at basses since i'm getting a new bass, previously i was kinda set on getting either a Warwick standard corvette, or a Fender jazz bass. I was looking closer into the Fender 24 Deluxe bass, made in mexico. It has string through body, active with passive switch etc, and i DO want a J-J setup on the new bass i'm getting.
Anyhow, then i saw the Clive basses, it's pretty much a copy of the fender Jazz bass, but it comes cheaper than a regular MIM jazz bas, and a lot cheaper than the Fender Jazz 24 deluxe, and the Clive also had active mics, string through body, it has mahogany body, flame maple top.
They didn't have the Jazz 24 deluxe in that day, but i compared it with a regular MIM jazz bass, and in my ears, it kicked the fenders ass. I compared it to a Warwick corvette too, it was slightly better than it too, but came with the advantage that i'm not sure about the Warwicks necks, which is always an issue. Sadly i could not compare it to the Fender jazz 24, but it was for the price of about 800 US dollars (about 5500 swedish kronor wiht he dollar price of 6,90 which it was this friday at least) which is to be compared with the Fender Jazz 24 deluxe which is 8000 swedish kronor.
I will look up the Fender still and try it out, but my wallet sure likes the Clive better.
So my question is that minding this is a really decent low/mid-budget bass, they don't seem to be a brand anyone knows about, or has anyone here ever tried one? If so please tell me about it.
