Yeah, the original pic he sent of the katalox blank had it so it looked like it was only gonna be a half inch of the blonde. Was not expecting this, but I'm thrilled.

My big ugly mug was on my favorite live bass chat on YouTube tonight.
I'm around the 1 hour and 40min mark if anyone wants to check me out.
I got to show off three of my BIG McNeely basses while sounding like a dummy.
No wonder my band never let me on the mic!

I put La Bella RX nickels on this and man it just sings. TI jazz rounds were awesome but I think fresh strings are more important so better to have something I can buy more regularly.

I have always had Cliff's old headstock and logo, but this smaller headstock looks PERFECT with the singlecut shape! I wonder if he could do the larger CB on the smaller headstock on my upcoming singlecut olive/spalted maple/Spanish Cedar/rosewood bass?
Also, I have a set of custom Kent Armstrong pickups on order for a Shawn May bass. I am going to see if they might also be a good fit for the Bordwell. Cliff hasn't used Armstrong pickups in a long time, so this will be new territory with the interaction between the Armstrongs and the Trickfish preamp.
The top on your bass is BREATHTAKING! So, so perfectly executed...what electronics do you have in yours?
That sounds like a god idea.
They make some killer pickups, with or without a preamp.

Yeah I think the 'B' headstock suits the single cuts a little more. His normal one kills on the scroll basses though.
No electronics, just big rigs and switches for series/parallel/single. All passive. Pretty much always run it with the bridge in parallel and the neck pickup in series. With the blend forward or back a bit depending on the mood.
Nice! Passive and switching opens up a whole new menu of flavors! So useful and musical, especially when using the passive tone.
I run mine bridge in either single coil or series, and the neck pickup to single, eq flat if possible or passive. Bridge series and neck single is a trick Brady Muckelroy showed me for sitting in the mix perfectly...and he was right! Give it a shot and see if it works for you with your bass.
Oh yeah and the top! Not what I started out wanting but it turned out to be a real winner. Flame mango. With a perfect little blond 'control plate' for the switches and jack. Pure coincidence.
Oh yeah good call. I've mostly been using parallel cause of the output bump which drives my gain pedal. But i should try series too.
It must be fingerboard day around here. I like how he put the luminlay on the thin line beneath the fingerboard. He came up with the idea when he saw that the entire side of the fingerboard is blonde. We weren't sure how it was gonna look until he cut it. Had I known it would have looked like this (there was a full length Pic I posted a few days ago), I would have had an inlay of a sun, because the entire thing looks like a mountain range
