Update on # 249.

I re-cut the nut to even the string spacing and bring the G in from of the far edge of the FB, dressed the frets (had some nasty sprout), installed a string tree to stabilize the A and D, and strung it up with some TI Jazz flats......now this thing is out of orbit. Just a fantastic instrument. Very unique tone. The Nordy NP5 is an awesome P pup, and the Big Split is outrageous. Solid claro body and a lovely BEM board. Powerful, balanced, light, and gorgeous (to my eye). It sits in a stable of F Basses and easily holds its own.

I recently sold a pair of Clems to fund another F Bass, but will never let this one out of my grip. Pay dirt.... yeah Tom.

I just had my two six string basses at the local tech to fix some fret sprout that developed after I got the basses. I think its due to climate changes from sunny Florida to winter in Norway, mostly. Also cut the nut deeper on the headless to remove some fret buzz on the zero fret when digging in. Now they both play amazingly well.

Finally got a couple of pics of #262 in my hands. These were taken at a recent rehearsal.I tried to show the natural beauty of the Myrtlewood top. It is stunning in real life!
She has a BIG voice - fat, naturally compressed sounding low end, smooth, even mids and crisp highs = everything you could want Getting used to the 34 scale (my other basses are 35) and diggin' it more each time I play it!

Placed my order for a set of Circle K strings for Clement #256 7 string fretless. Low string is C# and gauge .244 which gives me C# F# B E A D G tuning.

Geez, you didnt have to order a string THAT thick, you coulda gone out and grabbed a cable from a roadside guardrail!! LOL

All kidding aside though, what size speakers can accurately capture the sound from the low C#?? I can only image how low the frequency is for that note.

Can humans even hear a low C#? I think that is around 16hz and most folks can't discern notes below 20hz. Still, it would be cool to play a bass that is felt more than heard.

Also, I would think one would need something like a servo-drive sub woofer to properly generate that low of a freq.

It is the harmonics / overtones that help us discern pitch even with a missing fundamental.

Swapped out the EMG 45TW's for 45TWX's on the #255... and... they be amazing. Such great pickups.

So I'm curious- how did it go with the low C# last night???

The word is marvelous. My rig has 10" and 15" speakers and a Fender Pro 800 which uses 1200 watts of power rating @ 4 ohms load. C# was audible sufficiently and very well. Did not try to but that bass can really shake the house when given the volume. Wicked good. #256 looks and sounds like the monster she is. Thunder of God.
