Tom, no chance youre thinking of letting that natural enhanced grain BN5? If so, I may just keep on saving. Thats exactly what I want.

Speaking of bent plate versus BA V...
Could someone(s) help me understand the differences, especially sonically speaking, between the bent plate, BA V, Hipshot A, Hipshot B (and other hipshots?) bridges?

Thndrstk might be a better one to answer this than me, but I've seen a LOT of BN5s with enhanced grain that look at least as good as mine. If it is up to the wood gods, then George most be their most favored high priest, because he pretty much does this kind of work every time.Love that enhanced grain on the BN5.

The BA is supposed to increase sustain by increasing the mass and contact area between the strings and the body. I believe it does do that, but some theorize it also does so at the price of kinda' thinning out the sound some as well.
To be honest, I've never taken two otherwise identical basses and A/B'd them, but I know George has. His personal preference is actually the bent plate for this particular bass, which is why it's standard. It was not a selection to save a few pennies per bass. That said, it is just his pref and as always, YMMV. Clearly, either way, the bass kills, so I'm guessing this is not a huge deal... just something worth giving someone else crap over probably...
Again: never give up what you want most for what you want now.

Your current Fender is a worthy bass for sure, so be patient, love what you've got now, but work for that dream.

Fbass BN5
Skjold 5 of some kind.
Look what I found.
I know its not an F, but I know Pete and love his basses. I played a few at the GTG in Columbus. I might, just maybe, be able to get he price they want.

I think that one is killer. I emailed both NW, and Pete, to see what they say.
