Club Fbass (thread 13)

I only played it with the black nut and the Fbass exposed core round wounds. It had a deeper and fuller tone than my other Fbasses. I know looks are not important to some but I like my basses to look as good as they sound. That's what drew me to Fbass. They are not only the best sounding basses I have ever played, they are truly works of art. I sometimes find myself admiring them like some of you may admire a classic painting or sculpture. In my limited experience they are the finest basses I have come across .View attachment 2809936

Thanks brother. What's really cool about it is that in many lighting situations it looks purple. I get many compliments every time people hear and see her, more people have thought she's purple than blue!

I can see how the purple would pop in the right light. It’s one of the most beautiful Basses I’ve seen. Dig the strap too! I have one of those to go with my white BN.

At first it used to bother me. I just got what I thought was a spectacular blue bass and people kept saying to me 'I love that purple bass'. The night that picture was taken my guitar player said 'hey, it looks blue tonight!' Marcel told me they use some purple pigment in their blue to get that shade. I guess it's almost like having two bases in one ;)

My blue BN6 also looks purple in certain lighting situations.

Outstanding! I'm happy that you're giving her a good home and family. Couldn't have worked out any better.

Can I get your (and anyone else who may be reading this) opinion?
If someone already owns a pj, does it make sense on a practical level to also buy a jj?

So, opinions are well... you know. For me, I like the JJ config as I have 3 of them. Although, there is really only one that sees significant play time and that is the VF in the photo above. I had a Fender P/J that I liked a lot, but traded it when I bought the BN6. I will say that there are those that swear by that P Bass tone and that pickup is probably the only way to truly get it. For me, I can get close enough with just the neck pickup on my J's or BN's for that matter. For these reasons I have not replaced the "P" in my arsenal. I can also say that the VF5 pups are dead silent when solo'd. It has the Aggie HC J's in it. The BN is silent as well with hum canceling enabled. Hum from some single coils, especially when solo'd is a big annoyance for me.

Practical.... hmmm... Since I have 3 jazz basses, 2 fretless... you get the idea, I am not sure I know what that has to do with it. :) Apparently my answer will always be, Yes!! You need a P/J to have that tone. Or, a BN so you can truly have the best of both worlds!

Hope that helps.

So if I'm reading you right you're saying a VFPJ and a BN should have me covered. Although adding a VFJJ would be nice, it's more of an added luxury than a practical solution to address a need? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
