So if I'm reading you right you're saying a VFPJ and a BN should have me covered. Although adding a VFJJ would be nice, it's more of an added luxury than a practical solution to address a need? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Seems like that would cover a lot of the tone fabric for me-- like 90%, or maybe more. However there are things that need a little different this or that from the tone perspective. I think the types of music you play would be a big factor in that decision. Like country music, to me you need at least flats and maybe fretless-- same for bluegrass. By that notion, you could also need a JJ if you needed to play Geddie or Marcus type things.
I know I am very content to play either my VF or BN and get whatever tone I need. Want... well, thats another matter.
