Club Fbass (thread 13)

The first video you are hearing clear articulation due to the compression of the ebony top.
The second video you are hearing the open throatiness of a non-topped F Bass.
Both great sounds - but they are different. Pick which sound you like the best and get it. PM if you'd like some help.

The lurk stops here.

Love everything about it. Looks like an incredible Bass! Congrats

It is a 2015 and it has a few minor scrapes, but nothing offensive that I've found yet. My only (and very minor) annoyance is the white nut, but I'm not sure back or bronze would be an improvement.

That said, I've been waiting on a BN5 for a while, and this one called to me. I'm not much of a fretless player, but this bass is unbelievably nice and easy to play. Considering the 34.5" scale and 10.5 lbs weight, it feels fine (I only play seated). The tone is a tad smoother than what I'd want for rock sounds, but I think different strings and external eq could get me there. For the ambient noise stuff I play, this is going to be a tremendous addition. The voice is great, and the electronics are silent. I'm very happy.

Now to start moving other basses in my collection to make room in my bass closet.

Beautiful bass, congrats!

What are folks running for strings? I think this beast needs a new set. The current strings are mellow and thump-y. I’m looking for a bit more upper mid presence.

On my AC5 with the ebony fixed bridge I run TI JR345. Amazing strings. Expensive but amazing. I adjusted the pup height and truss rod to accommodate.

I was *almost* ready to buy that Red BNF5, what a great price for a monster of a bass. Congrats!

Thanks.

I thought about sending an offer since the seller was accepting them, but was worried someone would buy at asking. I couldn't miss this :)

MAN I was eyeing that one on Reverb since it popped up. Glad it went to a good home, and it’s departure has me ordering a custom since I was informed FBass isn’t doing the extended fingerboard anymore.

I knew it was being watched. Every hour I hesitated I could feel someone else closing in :)

I did a bit of looking at strings and I’m fairly certain that I’ve got TI flats on it now based on the red silks. Still debating if I want to experiment with something else.

This weekend I’ll be experimenting with it for a synth/noise performance I’m doing in a week.
