Bolt Neck
According to Marcel, they're not making any neck-through instruments for the foreseeable future. You have in your possession a rare instrument!I’ll keep that in mind, but I love this bass.
I think it is “Bolt Neck” (an additional F marks Fretless). VF would be “Vintage” something. If I remember correctly.
I guess I should have posted this a long time ago. Last year I got possession of this beast of a bass, an instrument worked on by George himself. For reasons beyond this post, this build was complex enough to make the guy lose his sleep several nights, which I must admit, was absolutely worth it. A few years ago I sold “Thor”, originally owned by @Tom7 and I lamented doing so ever since. This is a fretted AC6 equipped with Piezos and a functional Midi output, 16.5mm, badass ramps, sinker wood, an absolute marvel, now named “Nebuchadnezzar”. Marcel and George and the whole FBass team are the absolute best. Hope soon to have some videos showcasing that it sounds as spectacular as it looks.

What is the weight of an average f-bass BN5? What's the weight of yours ? txs
Hello F bass club. I have question about BN series. I tend to index my thumb on the pickup, the F Bass bn pickups seem to be quite far away from the strings. Would this make thumb rest on the pick up difficult?
While they are adjustable, I never found that to be impractical. I feel like I keep the pickup shells pretty close to the strings-- about 3/32 by the gauge I use.
It’s approximately 1.5” from the edge of the neck pickup to the B string on my BN5 (with standard 19mm spacing), and about 1.33” from the bridge pickup. The pickup shells on mine are about 5.25” across.
I play with the “floating thumb” technique, and I think the BN5 is one of the easiest playing basses I’ve ever tried, ymmv with an anchored thumb.

Mine is 9.25lbs, ash body with a maple neck (and birdseye ‘board”. But when I ordered it, I specified under 9.5lbs.

I see a lot of angled artsy shots, but I don't see a proper view of the bass.
Perhaps I'm being snarky but it's one of my biggest annoyances with this site..multiple views of contours, headstocks, bridges etc. But no full frontal view of the bass!
Your wish is my command, and I agree with you. Since this time I have the bass with me, I neglected to publish a photo where the bass appears in all its glory.
Ah yeah there it is! Thanks that is absolutely stunning. The black strings really top it off. Congrats, that's a lifetime instrument right there.
