It's always the first thing people ask me about that bass
Funny story about it - when I was finally set on getting George and Marcel to build me a bass and made the trip down to Hamilton, I went into the big "humidor" to check out all the stock of tonewoods they had on hand. I'm a geek for this kind of stuff, and I knew I wanted a maple neck, so while we were looking through the giant pile of beautiful pieces of maple I looked behind the rack and found a few pieces of birdseye that had apparently been sitting there gathering dust for decades. There were 3 pieces left, with the biggest and darkest burls any of us had ever seen, and I settled on one right then and there.
To answer your question, it's "Chocolate Chip Maple", as coined by Marcel Furlanetto!
Nice...but don't you think adding dot inlays was a bit redundant?
Yes it is a dry cabinet for instrument
to maintain humidity level , as its very humid in the tropical island all year round.

I had a similar experiment when building my JJ. Mine was not nearly as exotic as yours but it was nice to be able to check out the different planks of flamed maple and pick the exact one I wanted for the fretboard on my bass.
Marcel is such a pleasure to work with when designing an instrument.
Fbass has the custom part of custom basses down to a T!
Hey F-Bass aficionados, I'm currently in negotiation with the seller of a BN5. AFAIK, the pickups on those basses are in Jazz Bass position. Does anyone know if the bridge pickup is at the 60's or 70's position?

For sure not 70s as recent Nicole Row build was specifically saying the bridge pickup has been moved to 70s position. But whether the default placement is 60s appropriate or something unique for Fbass that requires someone to step in and shine some light
I suspect that it's a custom placement for both locations, emphasis on "suspect".

Everybody’s right—they’re ‘70sish, because of course the scale length is 34.5”, making only proportionally equivalent positioning possible. Good lord I love FBasses.
34.5 scale but I believe still 60's position. The reason I think this, is because I also have a GFC L5 which George only made a handful or so and those basses are 70's position compared to the BN5 (which I also have).

I think the neck pickup might be further back in the BN5.. I mean it looks that way. *Shrugs*

Funny enough I think this is why I don’t really know. They sound so good I’ve never considered they might be anywhere else. FBass has long been my favorite do-anything option because everything is so well thought out.This probably won't do, but can we say they are in the perfect position?

Regarding the BN5 bridge pickup placement.
I have a BN5 Studio, which is 34inch scale.
Here are pictures of bridge pickups measured from the 12th fret.
