Wow, I'm not normally a buckeye burl kinda' guy but that bass is PURE CLASS, and it's great how the clear pickguard and even the screws are pretty much cloaked by that top. VERY nice!!!I'm IN...Ships on monday!!!

- is the nut 1 3/4"? Looks like it in the photo
- what's the body wood?
- can you describe the process of how that top got selected? Did you pick from some samples, or just turn Roger loose? Thanks

Thinking about trying Sadowsky flats on the RV4. Reviews say they are some of the roundest sounding flats there are.
Thoughts on that specifically?
My primary beef with flats has been the darker tone and the quick decay. If these are less so in those categories, I might enjoy them.

Wow, thanks everybody...I'm more than thrilled on how well it came out (at least visually), the fact that I got some burl-haters to luv it says a lot

-Chambered Swamp Ash, total weight: 8.15 lbs
- Well, after finalizing the order with Kevin, 3 months later he emailed me pics of about 10 raw planks of buckeye burl and asked me to pick a 1st and 2nd choice. This actually wasn't my first choice (structural problems forced it out of the running)...but i'm glad I picked this for 2nd! Here's the raw wood:
2 Months after that he sends a pic of the completed body in raw form (wet with water bring out the grain):
another 3 months later, it's all sprayed down (man recapping those months, how did I survive the wait! lol):
and the rest is history...I have to say though, Roger and Co. are truly awesome in that the missing control plate option is something they don't really do on the vintage models due to routing I believe, but they worked with me on this and got it done, and at no additional charge to boot (and they don't know me from Adam) so yea...they're more than okay in my book!!

you're probably talking about a D-tuner. It's just a peg that allows to go from standard E to a lower tuning at the flick of a switch.
Man, that's UNREAL how that top so radically changed from dry to finished. I mean, that's expected, but it was SO extreme in this case. Amazing!
