Sure, I swapped the soaps for Big Singles some time ago and am more than likely going to put the soaps back in. The BS are hotter, brighter, with more mids and a little less low end heft. They have a more in your face sound, which is not really needed in the 5/24... I'm going to swap back not because I don't like the tone, rather that I have a NYC VJ5 with custom wound Nordy NJ5 and this satisfies my single coil need in a Sadowsky. If you're interested in trying out the Big Singles send me a PM.

The flats are for my Fender 62 AVRI. The other strings are for my Sad J/J and my Grosh P/J.
I might switch to flats on the Grosh later down the road though.
Hey modern-5-24 owners, do you find the "neck" pickup sounds like a P-bass at all? I've got my eye on a metro m24 at Bass Central and I'm wondering if it can cop that kind of a tone, or a supporting one at least.
Yes, I always felt there was a lot of P tone in the neck pickup in the one I had (ash body, spalted maple top, ebony board.) I wouldn't go so far as to say "the same", but at least a lot closer than I expected. Very usable in lieu of a P IMHO.
Nordstrand makes a custom cover for Sadowsky and because of this you'll most likely wait 4-6weeks for a set when ordering from a Nordstand dealer.
You can have the Big Singles in different sizes: EMG35 size and Bartolini x?x size.
Thanks guys! I'm trying to decide between a natural-stain Modern 24-5 and an MV5-PJ. Both have the same finish, both have maple fbs, both weight a killer 8.5 lbs, and they're the same price. I haven't played either, but I think I'm leaning toward the PJ instead of taking a stab at something totally foreign. Your input is greatly welcomed!!

I too prefer the look of the PJ. However, I got an M5-24 on a trade deal and after a few rehearsals and some gigs I wouldn't care what it looked like

Got a little package from Roger and Co today. I'm guessing RS is among the few that actually send a complete new set of screws when you order a PG!!!

You are considering two VERY different basses. Yes, there is a couple of places where they kind cross each other's path tonally but everything else pretty far part.
I am a HUGE fan of the 24-5. The bass may not be "totally foreign" but it is close. So, it is almost impossible not to have an opinion about it.
I'd take the modern over the PJ in a heartbeat. I had an RV5-PJ is while it had all the Sadowsky quality, I didn't care for it much at all. But, if you don't know what to expect, I wouldn't recommend the modern. Only because you'll either love it or hate it.
I also think the 24 fret basses just hang/play better. Maybe me of course, but they just seem to have everything where it is supposed to be when you put them on.
