Club Sadowsky!!!

As promised, a short first impression review of my new Vintage 5.
Here are the specs:
- non-chambered ash body,
- morado board
- 1 3/4" nut
- Nordstrand Big Singles in 60's J position

I got in on Friday and gigged it the night after.
Well, the room was REALLY boomy. I started soundcheck with my GenzBenz STL 600 and two Aguilar SL112 cabs without PA support. It quickly turned out, this was too much for the room. So I used only one of the Aguilar cabs.

The bass sounds way thicker than your "regular" Sadowsky JJ. The front PU goes into the P area and the bridge PU is perfect for fat, fast and pumping finger funk lines.
With this bass I won't touch the bass boost at all. In fact, this is the first active bass I am playing totally flat!

So, I am glad to be back in the club as my last Sadowsky sold in March this year (although I have been using my SA200 at least once a week in the meantime).

My beautiful Nora was born later that day making me completely forget about the bass, but when I came home for a shower I checked my email and found out I had won my Bass, "The One". The 10th of July was my lucky day for sure."

On the other side, "The One" has also become "The Only One" :crying:, since I sold my VJ4 and I'll be shipping it out to the new owner tomorrow. I am a little sad, but I also know that I am a "one bass man" at heart, in fact, I am a "one you-name-it man" about almost everything in life and my VJ4 had not been played much since I got my PJ. I'd love to get a PJ fretless in the future and I won't say that if something pops up on the In Stock page that has my name on it I won't go for it.

Great story! You are very lucky indeed. Get little Nora into bass playing as soon as you can! And thanks for the pictures!! :hyper:

Fran Diaz, great story! Sorry you had to pass the J on, but it sounds like it was the way it was meant to be anyway, so no big deal.

She loves music, she sings along the basslines when I'm studying and she loves to sit at the piano and play. It won't be long before she grabs her brother's short scale bass :bassist:

it was a pleasure. I feel honored to be in somebody else's wall :cool:

thanks Vic. I'm devoting most of my time to double bass and as I said before, I've been a one instrument guy for most of my life. I can make my PJ work for everything and the only real tone that I'll miss is the slap tone on the JJ, IMO no PJ sounds as good as a JJ with single coils when you slap.
I'll use that money to upgrade my bow (it's crazy what a thin stick with some horse hair can cost :eek:) and to buy a double bass for my second son (he's starting to study classical DB next september).
I'll miss it, but I also know that Roger's work is so amazing that I can get another one in the future if I need it.
