Strange, because this came with a mint guard. I can't stand mint, nor could I cover up the nice flame.
I'm not an exotic top guy but if this bass had the right number of strings (for me) I'd be GASing for it.
Congrats!!!
Mint is good for the digestive system and looks the business on 59 burst basses with maple boards - IMO.
Personally I would go with no pickguard (rather than clear) - but maybe thats just be as I haven't see a clear pickguard that has done if for me yet. But, we are quibling over aesthetics when its the earth shaking Dowsky tone that really matters!

I'm back from my Chicago and Milwaukee gigs. The MV5 was just killer, killer, killer!!! I am totally, completely pleased with this bass. I REALLY like the single coils in these basses... A LOT
And man, a couple additional nice one's posted since I hit the road on Saturday morning. Nice stuff everyone

+1... really nice!!!! I think the slight extra weight of the 'non-routed ash' really helps in the 'balls department' also. This thing really punched and growled!!!
Ken was just over here and I just played THE BASS. It is the real deal, one of the finest Sadowsky I've played. Very similar in weight and feel to my old sunburst.
Cool, yeah, I should weigh mine but I don't have an accurate enough scale. I'm assuming mine is between 8 and 8.5. They didn't weigh it at the shop since it was not an in stock bass.
