Kevin's yer man on this, but I'm pretty sure you can.Can you order an NYC with a solid ash body and it still come in in the high 8 or low 9 lb range?
Yeah, my newer 24 fret MV5 has that slightly narrower nut and it's even lighter at 7.45. It's a joy to play!!Yeah... if that bass had a 1 3/4 nut my credit card bill would probably have been a lot higher this month.

Hi I just got this NYC ultra vintage p. Nice and light been having fun with it. I bought it off of eBay and when it arrived the box was so light I was afraid the bass was not I the case. It plays and sounds fantastic.
Can I get a number ? This is my first club.
