This has always seemed intuitively correct to me. And I do not stand alone....I believe Zon and Alembic and some others use the same direction I do. Close your eyes and tell me if you think bridge equals clockwise or counter-clockwise. A lot depends on whether you focus on your thumb or your fingers on the knob. I have polled people for years, and it splits 50-50. When I started my Metro Line, I polled my dealers regarding my pan direction and they all said my direction was "right".

However, there is no right or wrong. Chocolate or Vanilla anyone??

Roger,

You know I'm your biggest fan - BUT I still think it feels funky. Mine are all wired the other way so it's not an issue for me.

It's also a minor issue either way that's easy enough to tweak if a player has a strong preference one way or the other.

Yeah, you're definitely not the only one that does it "backwards" ;), but I'll definitely agree on the no wright/rong thing. :)

It's really more of a status quo thing simply because more vendors have (admittedly, arbitrarily) chosen to do it the other way.

But really, it's such a microscopic issue, and I would think it'd be a zero cost change on a new order, and a ridiculously trivial change for someone buying on the used market.

The funny part is, having said all this, and given I'd be totally comfortable making the change myself, I have not rewired any of mine. I just simply remember when I'm on a Sadowsky, I have to turn it the other way. Don't remember ever having an issue with it.

Just no big deal, but fun to talk about on TB of course. :)

+1 You can almost use it like an IQ test. If it takes you more than 5 minutes to figure out the different direction and incorporate that information into your brain, then my guess would be you would also be having a lot of trouble with other things (like finding your car in the grocery parking lot, or remembering where the bathroom is in your house every morning). :p

I can see it both ways. Personally, Roger's logic makes sense from several standpoints; and if they came wired the other way, then I would be confused. For a while. But, I also see the physical POV Chef and others have described. Since the mod is so essentially trivial, don't really see it as a big deal either way.

In fact, I would prefer VV vs VB. But, I'm old school I suppose. That mod can probably be done relatively easily as well, but doesn't truly make enough difference to be worth chasing. Plus, I like stuff stock.

In fact, I don't really care all that much.

As Ken accurately pointed out, there are other things to be concerned about. Its just that bouncing back and forth between a stock Jazz and the Sadowsky can cause a little confusion there in the heat of the moment at the gig. Fender Jazz, you ask? Hey, they can sound pretty downright amazing through the Sadowsky Outboard!!!!:D

I'm sure others have had a similar experience to mine...

First night on the gig with the Sadowksy. I had been playing balanced for awhile and decided to dial in more "bridge". Of course, I forgot how these worked and was dialing the wrong way. My reaction was "whoa, if it gets that beefy on the bridge, it's gonna be crazy when I go neck :)".

Not a problem after that, never had the urge to change; it is as it should be.
