And you've got an MTD as well, don't you? There's a tonne of awesome sauce sitting in your practice space if I'm right about that...

Hey Roger - my pet ferret loves your straps. I have various guitar straps sitting in a box in my "bass room" and Swiffer always steals the same one: my Sadowsky strap. Nice to know he's got good taste. 
Back to my preamp questions from the last thread. After watching Roger's video I tried (@ practice ) boosting the Bass and treble to see if I can get what Roger was talking about. I liked the benefits of it. If you are running the preamp flat then all you are actually doing is taking the instrument cable out of the formula. Arent we missing an oppourtunity to make use of a great preamp ?

Just keep in mind you're also outputting more overall signal gain than most basses doing that. Just watch your gain stages to make sure you don't overdrive it. That's why I prefer to do that kind of EQ on the amp, myself.
Yeah, I seem to have developed some sort of strange addiction....gas! I could either have little electrons on a screen telling me I have X amounts of pieces of paper issued by some weird Federal Reserve outfit, or I could have tangible property that I enjoy. I opted to enjoy.
The Sadowsky basses are just fantastic. Roger took what Leo did and fixed or improved that which was subject to improvement and in turn created something that's its own animal. Easy to play, sound great, light....what's not to like?
Depends on your amp, your playing style, your musical context. Boosting the bass and treble suck all the punch and grind out for me, but of course, IMO, and the knobs are there for a reason.
If I, for example, had a tightly voiced sealed multi-10 cab, I would most likely crank the bass more than I do, and a bit of boost in the treble would extend the top end of those drivers nicely.
With my Bergantino and other cabs, lots of excess boost in not necessary to get a full, fat, tone. A touch of bass boost, and there you go... that 'hear the windings on the E string' tone (actually, 'hear the windings on the B string' tone
).That being said, to paraphrase the Andrew Zimmer (the 'strange food' guy on the travel channel): 'if it sounds good, do it'
Edit: Also, to your point of 'only taking the instrument cable out of it', there is a LOT more going on with the Sadowsky pre than pure buffering. As I said in my demonstration video, 'it isn't a transparent preamp, but it is a great preamp'. There is quite a bit of voicing in the 'EQ flat' setting of that pre... WAY beyond pure, transparent buffering. This is a good thing for me, and is another reason why I find little need to significantly boost either the lows are the highs... they are all there when the preamp is set relatively neutral... which is in no way 'flat'. Just IMO and FYI!
