Cannot put the PJ-5 down though

Hey Blair, I never asked you this before, but you being a long time P lover, I wonder what factors made you choose to go with a PJ instead of a straight P.

IN with a couple o' body shots for ya "marchone"
Thanks for that.
It's chambered ash with ash top w/59 burst, 1-3/4" nut/P neck, Madagascar RW bd, 7.7lb bass. Had the mint PG installed & ordered a 2nd PG with the build & have the tort on it for now.
It was one of 2 bodies which already had the cured sealer coat that Kevin had for me to choose from in that wood - shop stash seniority. :)
I thought my choice would sit well under a 59 burst & traditional P-Bass PG. The other body went under trans white/maple bd. (I think Fran might have a book mark of that one too).
The bare maple that was alluded to is my own work. (see the Sad' Forum "Back Of Neck Finish" thread for my posts on the procedure if you're interested)

That's a real touchy contemplation with me Fran. I could talk about my love of P-Bass till it puts you to sleep :D
In short (well kinda short) - When I finally broke the piggy bank & pulled the trigger on a Sadowsky build I came to the conclusion that it could possibility be the ONLY Sadowsky bass I could afford.
I had owned a number of Ps over the best part of 1/2 a century & always enjoyed playing the Fender P-Bass Special ("hot rod" P ) at my weekly music store hang. There was something I liked in the variation of tonal choice to suit the variation in genre. Being a purist is not an obsession that I cultivate so the bridge J pup was an option to have on the back burner as it were.
The more I played my Sad', the more I realized that straight up P-Bass is in my blood to the extent that is irreversible. I will always find a reason to blend in the bridge pup but P pup tone is home for me. I'm sure you've heard the old story about the youngster asking his parents,"how can you tell if you're in love?" & hearing the reply, " You'll KNOW when it happens". I can close my eyes & tell you when P pup HAPPENS.

In the almost four years that I have played my PJ I've gone from a 95% of time with the blend at the center detent to a 80% of the time with the P pickup soloed; to the point that I use the J pickup because it's there, but if it weren't I think I wouldn't miss it.

On a totally off topic but thong related tangent, my wife was helping sort through donations for a school garage sale yesterday. Someone donated a bag of clothes, which included bras and panties (and a Christmas themed thong). Seriously, who the hell donates used underwear to a school garage sale????

Quick, back to Sadowsky basses!!!!!!

:):):(... But think about it... Which one is worse the one who donate them or the one who buys them?

You'd be surprised, but I don't think it's what you think.

I don't think they intend to specifically donate that stuff... I think it's more like they just look at a box/bag of old clothes and decide to donate it all without first sorting through it. They just don't care (though I wish they would... or at least provide a free set of gloves and tongs to use). :D
