Got my Metro today. I spent about 45 minutes in my off at lunch with the door closed tinkering with it and playing it. It is a really nice bass. I am eager to get it home and plugged into an amp.
My initial simple observations:
1. It is extremely resonant. You can really feel it just with it sitting in your lap. I haven't had a bass like that since . . . well, since my last Sadowsky!
2. It is VERY light - especially for a Metro. It hits 8.43 lbs on the digital postal scale I keep in my office. That's as light - if not more - than all but one of the Sadowskys I owned in the past including the NYCs.
3. The action sucks on it. The first/last fret relief test is good. The saddles are just high. I'm guessing it was set for a "one size fits all" in the BC showroom.
4. The neck has a beautiful grain in it and feels amazing. It VERY much reminds in feel of Vic's MV5-24 that I had the pleasure of owning for a while. I hope it has much of that bass's mojo. It killed it. It may have been my favorite of all the Sadowskys I have owned. I have probably bought/sold/traded around 100 basses at least. That MV5-24 is on a VERY short list of basses I absolutely regret parting with.
5. This bass probably has the coolest aesthetic vibe of any of the Sads I have had. I'm really digging on the vintage tint with tort look. It is me for sure. I like the '59 burst, but this is better, IMO. I am not much of an opaque finish guy. This bass reminds me a bit of an L2500 I had a long time ago. I loved that bass as well.
Anyway, it's like a Marine's rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine:
