Club Sandberg (part 2)

Been a while since I played the 48, but I own a hohner headless and that does throw your fret hand further forward.

I cannot say that the 48 did it more so, possibly less.

It was no less comfortable to play than my Hohner that is for sure.
I love the look and the shape of the 48 but wasn’t quite for me, probably body slightly too small for my frame

Thanks; my only two concerns were how much of an issue that would be, though I should be able to get that fixed by moving the rear strap-pin, and how lively its feel is.

I see a 48 in my future...

I took delivery of a 48 the other day. It does take some getting used to but I love mine. I will say that a wide strap helped with the balance.

Specs
Neck - 6 x bolted / canadian hardrock maple
Fretboard - rosewood
Scale – 34” / 22 frets
Body - European ash
Finish - RedBurst matte
Hardware - Sandberg Black
Pickup – 1 Sandberg designed powerhumbucker, 1 Sandberg splitcoil metal covers
Pre-amp – Sandberg/Glockenglang 2 band EQ/Vol/Pan
Gig bag - standard Sandberg
Weight – 9.4 lbs

I’d love a 48, my favourite looking basses of any bass out there. I excitedly drove hours plus to pick up a really badass HCA black with cream stripes but was so disappointed because whilst the weight was great, the action and sound was typically Sandberg, the standing position was the deal breaker. I wear my guitars and basses at waist height, so neither high nor low, but the first fret felt a good fret/ fret and a half longer which really did fatigue my hands. For reference I’m 5’8” and I haven’t got long arms so I had to pass I still look at them and dream but I know that it would be a bad decision. So it was a miserable 3 hour drive back but at least I didn’t just jump in like I usually do.
