I find it nails the P tone nicely and is not a million miles from either of my Fender Ps. I've always thought that having the split that way round made far more sense in terms of a more even tone. I also find the pre amp to be very transparent so either passive or active it still sounds like a P. Of course YMMV.

Hi everyone, i have bought a 5 string bass sandberg second hand, i want to know what its series and when was it made, on the back of the neck there is 644 written.
The pickups is bartolini. I want to change the active circuit where to buy on the internet.
There is 2 9v battery inside, is this configuration for this series genuine?
The input jack is faulty, it makes noises when the jack inserted in it is moved from side to side.
Must buy one.

That's an unusual configuration, I've never seen anything like it. Post some pictures so we can have a look.
It's a Bullet series of some sort. My guess is the pickups and electronics have been changed, sounds like an 18V EMG pre. Not sure when it was made, that's all I can tell, others here will know more. Can't tell if it has a Sandberg bridge.
644 indicates a vintage instrument. Mine has a serial of six thousand something.

What a rare find, Congrats. Electronics these days for Sandbergs are made by Glockenklang. Pre amps are in the Glockenklang website.

Anyone know what the Custom Supreme sounds like ?
The demo says it sounds smooth and can be used for almost any style of music ! So if it's smooth then it's not for metal ? I wonder what it sounds like playing metal with a pic ? I would have though one can get any tone from this instrument. If it does the lot then it could be the last bass I ever buy. Is this the one ?
Perhaps the Panther is more suited to metal.
The Session Music Rayman sounds killer.

I recorded every song with this bass (->Sig).
Theses basses are great for metal.
The Delano Xtender are great pickups. The only thing I am not 100% sure is the mahogany body, I guess an ash body could do better. But overall, this bass should do great.

Great now i know where to buy the input jack for it.
As its a vintage instrument i keep it like it is or put Glockenklang 5 pot circuit in it?

Depends how much you are into keeping it vintage. I would not be drilling a 5th hole in it, no, that would wreck it as you or someone else if you ever sell it will not be able to put it back to stock. Would loose value. Keep the old parts too. Glockenklang makes a pre with a stacked treble & bass pot so it all fits in to 4 holes. The pre's come with a wiring diagram and they are pre wired so you only need to figure out and solder the jack, ground, battery and pickups. The support area of the Glock site has wiring diagrams you can download for their new pre amps. Or go for a 2 band pre.

Very wise advice. Better not to dril a hole and loose its market value. I will fix the jack first.
My main concern for wanting to change the circuit is that the bass pot must be open +50% to have sound, all other pot works normal. If its -50% no sound on bass. Is this normal. So for that reason i want to have the original wiring, to verify it.

It looks similar in some respects to a Bullet Special model. I actually have a full-custom Sandberg 5-string that is based on the Bullet Special, and other than the pickups and some additional electronics/3-way pickup selection switching and a strings-through bridge, mine looks a lot like yours.

You can see from the pictures in my 'for sale' thread that our basses share some similarities, but that there are also significant differences. I am not sure that the bridbe on your bass is the original (Sandberg generally - if not always - uses a black bridge with black tuners and black control knobs).
I wish that I could be of more help, but this is about all that I can say for sure.

Ok, now I get it, if you want to change the whole pre amp circuit because the bass pot is faulty then just fix the pot. Either it needs a new pot or there is a loose wire or short on it or where it connects to the circuit board. That's a whole lot less work than replacing the pre amp.
I just noticed the pots are soldered to the circuit board, perhaps somethings on the other side of the board or a dry solder joint.
