I think that was originally a J.J. Cale song, but I liked the Dr Hook version the best

I would guess off the top of my head without an instrument to try it that if it's In G, you would start at the octave, D string 5th fret. Go down 3rd, 2nd. A string 5th, 3rd, 2nd, E string 3rd (G). I don't know the actual key, but if you can understand my ramblin', that will get you close if not right. Of course if it's in a different key, move around accordingly!
