Powerstage. If you are going for a tube amp sound, why wouldn't just get a pedal that pushes a tube?

AU-Drive is another option but way too expensive for what it is. When I saw the schematic, I was less than thrilled with the amount I paid

True, there's only a preamp valve in my abm 500 and it's not the best sounding when pushed, one day i'll have an svt... I'll have a look into both of them and see, just want extra grit on top of slamming my pedals

If you have even minimal soldering skills, you could build an AU-Drive. Or if you are in London, my buddy Frank Cook (in Angel Music on Denmark St) could build it for you.

i like gain stages ... and/or using various pedals to emulate stepped gain stages ...

#1 ... just a tiny bit o grit , mostly just tube warmth ... Eden Glow Plug ( upgraded lower gain JG5751 tube )

#2 ... ( on it's way ) ... Way Huge Pork - Loin Soft Clip w/JohnK mod

#3 ... ( previously #2 ) Dr Scientist - the Element ... very very versatile , low or high gain , 3 clip modes , etc


one at a time or all together ,.. or whatever ..!
