Coated Short Scale Strings – Do They Exist?

I’m looking for coated short scale strings and have looked around the web pretty thoroughly and can’t seem to find anyone who makes them. I have both a short scale Acoustic 4 string and an Ibanez Mikro that I’d like to get them for.

My hands sweat and coated strings save me a lot of money and hassle. Anybody ever seen coated short scale strings for sale?

Not really unless you go with a nylon tape wound. But that is a different tone all together.

You may want to look at a more corrosion resistant alloy like nickel iron alloy.

I put long scale elixers on my longhorn for a while with no issues. The string would not fit through the tuning posts, so I unwound a bit of the string to get to the core and put that through the post then tuned up and it worked fine. You may want to try an old set first to try what i'm saying instead of spending big money on a new set and having problems installing them. They sounded great on the Longhorn by the way. I have same problem as you and prefer coated for their longevity. and I think they sound great also.

All this to make you (and whomever else it may concern) aware that Pyramid makes two (4-string) sets of black, coated "short"-scale roundwounds, the C824S (45-65-85-105) and C828S (40-60-80-100) Short Scale Black Wires.

As mentioned in the product descriptions, they have a winding length, ball to taper, of 34.25", making them a better fit for medium-scale basses (or shorties with some distance between ball to bridge saddle, nut to 1st tuner, or both). Still, they're out there, so I thought it worth a heads-up.
