combo amp

Some amps have a built-in external speaker jack & the manual would probably explain what you can or cannot connect to that jack.

Matthew, if you want the best advice that will only come if we understand exactly what you have and what you are trying to do. If your combo does not have an external speaker socket it's doubtful that you can add one, or the equivalent wiring, safely. mostly combos have an internal driver that can wrest the maximum power out of the amplifier portion that it is capable of. Trying to get more will destroy the amp.

mine does not have an external 1/4 inch plug... it only has an exposed speaker and i was curious if i can just hook another speaker up to it...just wondering if itll over use the amp itself...

The speaker is exposed ?

As in, the back of the cab is "open" where you can see the back of the speaker ?

If so, that is a guitar combo, NOT to be used with bass.
