combo for small gigs and recording

hi guys
first post here.
I am operating a small recording studio and about to get back on stage as well doing the low end.
So I want to buy a combo as I also eed one for the studio.
Currently looking at the Hydrive 15 or the 715 from Trace.
I like the trace sound but I hear so many good things about the new hydrives...
first question for hydrive users. How does the fan sound meaning high speed noisy or quiet subtle?
Second. Suggestions for other models? budget is a grand and I really want 15 for the studio.

Not personal experience but reading posts on this site there seems to be a lot of love for vintage Ampeg B15's in the studio. Search this out on the forum

The problem comes from the dual duty. What sounds good in the studio, won't necessarily be loud enough for the gig. And, vice versa. I'd err on the other side, and get a gig worthy rig, which could be tamed for low level recording.

actually I am going to choose the other way around.
I need something good for the studio and I will gig with it.
Ill never play 20 000 people type gigs so no worries there.
Which leads me to another subject but for I ll get there later...
Thing is I am 700 kilometers from any decent music store I want to gather as much sound feedback before I go to do the buy.
How about the silver serie from Eden? Can't believe you guys haven't got anything to say. Cat got your tong?
PS I have always used small rigs, even in my glorious days... and used mons if I wanted to go walkabout. to bad for the first 3 rows...

I like my Yorkville XB200 with the xtra 15" cab.

Just loud enough for clubs and great in the studio as well.

Well, speaking of "walkabout", a Mesa Walkabout head paired with any decent 2x12 cab, (4 ohms), would make a great small gig rig. Also, the DI on the Mesa is pretty nice too, though I believe it's post eq, if that matters to you.
