If it's in my house, electricity. We have a gas furnace and gas water heater, but when we put on a new roof, there will be solar panels. Which, we hope, will lead to a heat pump and electric hot water. Everything just keeps getting smaller and more efficient. I like it.

Propane for us.
We did a solar assessment in 2017. Even for our tiny home, the man who did the assessment told us the return on the investment wouldn't be worth it. He said he'd be happy to do the project, but the only benefit we'd really have is a warm feeling in our heart that we're using solar power.
Funny thing is, a neighbour caught wind we wanted solar and spent big bucks on his house. Then he upgraded it again last summer for more big bucks. Still it's not completely self sufficient and he knows there's no return on his hefty investment either. But hey, he's hip and cool with all those techno looking panels on his roof.

I’d do solar if my house wasn’t too shaded by the neighbor’s trees. I know it wouldn’t make much sense financially, but I’d be somewhat self-sufficient while feeling (warmly?) like I at least did one small thing to help with the bigger picture. I dunno.

That article is a very good read.
Indeed. This quote stood out to me -

"Brooklyn pizzeria Oma Grassa has been lauded for the crispy texture of its pizza crust, which is made possible by an electric oven, the top and bottom of which can be headed to different temperatures."

My wife and I both enjoy cooking, so, of course, we have a gas stove. But even still, we made sure that it came with an electric oven because man, gas ovens suck!

People sure know how to make something out of nothing.
"The federal government isn’t going to take away your gas stove, a top consumer regulator told CNN on Wednesday.

Richard Trumka Jr, a US Consumer Product Safety commissioner, set off a firestorm this week by suggesting the agency could ban gas stoves because they have been linked to childhood asthma.

Trumka confirmed to CNN that 'everything’s on the table' when it comes to gas stoves but stressed that any ban would apply only to new gas stoves, not existing ones.

'We are not looking to go into anyone’s homes and take away items that are already there. We don’t do that,' Trumka said. 'If and when we get to regulation on the topic, it’s always forward looking. You know, it applies to new products. Consumers always have the choice of what to keep in their homes and we want to make sure they do that with full information.'"

Additionally, gas stove manufacturers will be making modifications to any future gas stoves so that they are safer.
