Comfort strapp - Guitar Strapps

Been using a Comfort Strapp ever since they came out (maybe 15 years... can't remember). VERY sturdy, VERY comfortable. It takes a bit of effort to get the Dunlop Strap lock mechanism attached, but once you do, you are set for a long time.

If you go that route, they come in different lengths. Make sure you order the right one. I use the short length (or maybe medium...whatever they call the shortest model), but I have 'small shoulders' and wear my bass relatively high. Most would need the longer model.

Not familiar with the Guitar Version, but I think they are thinner, narrower, less padding, etc. Not sure what advantage that would be with a bass guitar, unless you are playing a very small, lightweight instrument like the Rob Allen Mouse.

I have (3) Comfort Strapps for bass and (1) for guitar. Other than length they are for all practical purposes identical.

The guitar version is 2.5" wide. The bass version is 3.25" wide. They're both cushy but the bass edges out the guitar.

They're identical in thickness.

I had one, but based on how I liked to wear my bass at the time, I found myself at the end of the strap where the padding ends.

I ended up getting a NeoTech Mega bass strap and that is now all I will use.

Comfort Strapps are great and lots of folks love 'em, they just weren't for me.

I have two comfort stramps .. They last long but will get rather ratty looking if you gig alot.. I got the Sadowsky neoprene strap and it functions about the same and retains its nice clean look muck longer!

I know some people dont like logos, So If you dont want the sadowsky logo on it . A Sharpie does a fair job of covering it
EDIT : I saw the post by Grateful. about the NeoTech Mega// same thing as the Sadowsky .. .There ya go

I found one (guitar version) in my local pawn shop's strap box for $5. Seems nice, but I don't think it is going to replace my nice leather straps. None of my bases are over 9 lbs, so I'm using it with my 12.5 lb. double neck guitar.

I have them and most of the time, it's all I will use. I try others, but I keep going back to the Comfort Strap.

I agree that you need to make sure you get the right length. I use the small. The primary reason is that the padding goes all the to the plastic clip on that model. If you get one that's too long for your body, the plastic clip can dig into your shoulder or back. I also agree that they have a bit of bounce, but it's not bad. It's just because it's cushioned well.

I've tried the Neotech. First, it wasn't as comfortable as the comfort strap. Second, I didn't like the appearance of the triangle leather attachment points. Third, the peg holes were cut really tight. Nice if you want your bass to stay on, but they were so tight, it was hard to remove the strap when I wanted to use it for other basses.

So, Comfort Strap is my choice, but to each their own.

Had mine for nearly a year now.

Like it!

I wear the bass higher (but not super high). If you wear the bass up super high don't get the long comfort strapp. The short strapp is 33"- 37" whereas the long strapp is 38" - 45". They also have an extra long strapp - 42" to 54".

FWIW, here's how I achieve the 38" setting on the long strapp: each end of the strapp has 2-holes. I fold the strapp back at both ends and double loop it on to the bass (paranoid that the bass might fall off). Then I cinch it up (adjust it to it's shortest setting) and I'm good to go.

If I would play 2 basses on a regular basis, I'd order another strapp in a heartbeat.

Good to know about the short length strapp. Every now and then I wish there was a smidge more cushion around the plastic clip on the long strapp.

I've been using Comfort Strapps forever; my one issue is that the buckle on the top horn side digs into my shoulder a bit which starts to bother me during really long practices I've been having lately. I may try a Neotech or a Mono that doesn't have a plastic buckle in that location.

I started using Comfort Strapps in '94 or '95 after reading about them. They are all I used for many years. But I actually like them a little longer than the "Long" version. And with the "Extra Long" version, the "sweet spot" doesn't sit on my shoulder at the right spot. So I've sold off a bunch of my Comfort Strapps and now normally use the Mono Betty. I have a few Get'M Get'M Wear straps too. They look great, but aren't as comfortable as the Betty or the Comfort Strapp.

Have both the CS and the Sadowsky and I like the Sadowsky much better. Seems even though the Comfort Strap has the nice padding, you still feel the weight of the thinner load-bearing strap come through. The Sadowsky has no such feeling; it's evenly distributed.
