Hello TBers, I am looking to purchase a small, light bass amp that I can essentially carry with one hand while my instrument case is in the other. I have played a few small Ampeg, Acoustic, and Fenders and have not been much impressed with their tone. GC has a small MarkBass that I have heard good things about, but it is quite expensive. I have read about the new 15w Ashdown tube head and am intrigued by it, but do not know what it costs and have not found any dealers offering it yet. Carvin send me catalogs every so often and they offer a 2X10 combo that looks interesting but no way to try out. I usually play a Fender American Jazz 5 or my Jack Casady, through a B15R, with friends covering blues, rock and folk. Any advice on this subject would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Check out the TC Electronics BG250. There are a lot of threads on TB about it already so I won't go too in depth about it. I play through one and have nothing but good things to say about it. For the price I don't think you can beat it.

Thanks much for the replies. As for the budget I was hoping to stay under $500.00 and I do not need a great deal of volume from it, as it would mostly be used for rehearsals at a friend's house. I plan to check out the TC and GK amps, I much appreciate the suggestions.
