Compressed Distortion?

I'm looking for how to create that compressed distortions sound like found in:

Jamiroquai - Revolution 1993
Jamiroquai - Deeper Underground

I can't remeber where else I've heard it. I'm listening to Jamiroquai now, so its the only thing I can remember!

search those songs on this forum and I'd be staggered if some kind sould hasn't already posted what effects were used on those songs.
Rumour has it our galant knight mr Zender was using a boss multi fx for his synth sounds (me8?) if indeed that is a bass.

He used an ME-6B for his synth sounds

A Prunes and Custard does a good imitation of the deeper underground sound.

Correction, ME-8B. I have it and these sounds are easily produced. In fact, had one, changed to the GT-6B and (very disapointed) went back to it mainly because of synth/wah quality. Nices't bass pedalboard ever!
