I saw that and almost pulled the trigger…but yea, this is a bit more fancy than the use case warrants. This is a leave at Church pedal, find a setting and leave it…I use a P/flats, into a SansAmp VT pedal, than a di. Since I mostly accompany acoustics and piano, I do feel I need some lite compression to keep certain notes from blooming. Thx for all the suggestions. Maybe a Diamond jr…..but those are a bit $.

Yeah, I thought the price was right. Keep an eye open for an older BBE Opto-Stomp with the white & yellow case if the price tag fits. There are some decent one knobby-jobbys out there and that was the first to come to mind.

Afterthought: I sold my Empress v1 and bought the Seymour Duncan. Despite the plea for simplicity, a modicum of adjustability will come in handy as needs change.

You could always look at the Mooer Yellow Comp. It’s value minded and loosely based on the Diamond comp in that the controls are the same and it also has a tilt EQ. It just doesn’t quite have the “magic sauce.” But if the goal is to have something cheap that works and can be left at church then it is an option.

If I remember correctly, the Dedalo Gorilla is pretty decent at copping that Diamond comp vibe. It's supposed to be real close to that same Diamond mojo and feel.

FWIW, I should add that I use a Toadworks Mr. Squishy that can be found for around a hoondo. It's my number 1 live compressor and I do have a few. Try for the standard MXR version as the bolder big box version will work, but needs a cap or two changed if you want to use a chained power supply like the 1Spot. Not only is it a very effective compressor with a nice coloration, but can be an excellent boost.
