So all in all you are satisfied with it. I play with a pick so I need something to have a consistent output, but do have a few slap/pop lines and the pop lines always so loud on the higer strings. I'm really thinking of this pedal, has good reviews. For example the Hartkes compressor on a higher setting limits the pops but also suffocates the lower notes, doesn't even out the signal nicely.

Compressor and Overdrive on a budget?

Any chance you could stretch your compressor side of the budget a few dollars and consider the Duncan Studio Bass? It’s a ton of compressor for the money. The attack knob borders on useless, and it lacks any kind of metering, but the blend, compression, and low/mid/full switch controls are quite effective.
I saw some suggestions for the Joyo American mentioned. In other threads I’ve seen the Joyo Orange suggested. Might be worth a look/listen.
About the time I had the Agro I also owned a Blower from Idiotbox. Reasonable price. Good sound. While it’s got a reputation for high gain, it did low gain well. There was a ton of bass available with the EQ. It was a bit scooped sounding, so not ideal for rounder, warmer, vintage vibes. Maybe a little off of the OP tone goals, but I recall having it at the same time as the Agro and opting to keep it over the Agro.

A couple of caveats, I don't slap/ pop and I haven't used it in a live situation yet. Having said that, whether I'm using my big rig, small rig, or headphones, the Optocomp adds a punchiness and presence. When practicing with a recording I just prefer the tone with the pedal on vs off.

I think you have a good choice with the ampeg compressor. It's affordable and there are very good critics about it.
As for affordable overdrives, you have the TC Mojomojo, the EHX Hot Wax, the EHX Nano Battalion or the EHX Nano Overlord.
I have the Mosky MM Silver and it's a great OD/Distortion for bass and super affordable.
If you want an all-in-one unit check the EHX Battalion Preamp/D.I. or the Fender Downtown Express Bass Station.

It's a matter of taste but if you're in a budget you can consider the Boss OBD3
I found it used for 65 bucks , it's built to last and if you know what are you doing with the knobs it's a very good pedal. Since I play a Darkglass B3K I don't use it live but I still keep it in a drawer to play at home.

Hey @ChaserHUN , I know this was 3 months ago, but I'm curious to know what you decided on. I just picked up an Agro myself, and I had been using a Behringer BDI21. Did you get an Agro? If so, what do you think of it?
