Compressor question

I've looked in the forum but didn't see anything that related to my question. I just purchased a rack mounted tuner and have the opportunity to redo my effects chain. I have a Behringer Bass compressor pedal (looking to replace it) which is the only effect I have in my chain. My amp has an effects loop and since I don't fiddle with my compressor adjustments other than to make sure it is set & on I have this very simple question:

Would it be best to leave the compressor in line between the bass & amp, or should I move it inside my rack & put in my amp's effect loop?

What are the pros/cons of doing either??

I am running a wireless unit & would really like to put everything inside my rack so that all I do is plug in the wireless unit to the bass, hook up power, line out to FOH, power, speakers & I'm ready to rock-n-roll.

Thanks

Hi I would put it between the bass and amp, the compressors purpose is usually to smooth out your playing. Some effects loops in amps go between the input and the preamp...others go between the preamp and the power amp. Some amps have both available like an older Eden Highwayman that I owned. Compressors and dirt pedals usually go between the input and the preamp. Modulation pedals between the pre and the power amp. I guess the trick here is to know where your effect loop is wired. Of course the best bet is between the bass and the amp if you don't know. Of course you can experiment to see what you like best. Hope this helps
