I was thinking of doing a duel boot with Vista and Linux. How's the transition?
Ubuntu seems to be to go to version for windows users. I haven't check out any of them just yet.

Ubuntu seems to be to go to version for windows users. I haven't check out any of them just yet.
The transition is fine. Still trying to get drivers worked out and whatnot but enjoying it so far. I was having issues using Ubuntu's partitioning in the install process so I burned a GParted LiveCD and used that. Then it was no problem.

I know absolutely nothing about that mobo but the rest of it looks good to me. What about a power supply?

Looks good to me too, except for the motherboard. I'm not familiar with that one.
A quick google told me it was based on the Intel p965 chip set, which I believe is few generations old. I could be wrong on that though. I'm building my first system in a few years, so I kind of lost track myself.
However, it does seem to support everything you're looking for, so getting a board based on a newer chip set may put you out of your budget.

I was on pricewatch.com looking for combo packages. That motherboard was paired with the E6550 I was looking are ordering. So, according to the distributor, its a "matched" motherboard for that processor.
The case comes with a 400w power supply.. I did a wattage calculator and it said I would be pulling approximately 275w with the components I'm using. So, I should be fine..
