Is Mike Merrit playing a 2008 Fender?
The Lull has been around forever.

You're not a geek! ...or perhaps maybe I am. I noticed a few nights ago that Mike was playing a Fender after playing a Lull virtually every night for a looooong time. The first night I thought maybe he had massive bass breakdowns right before air and had to use a backup bass, but as he kept using it night after night I am beginning to think he just found a particular Fender he really likes the feel of.

Did you notice the thumb rest placement?
I thought it was odd. Thumb was not on rest.
