Conductive Shielding Paint

Hello everyone,

I just would like to know that how I could eliminate the single-coils' electrical noise and hum?

Should I paint inside of the knobs' and pickups' cavities with Conductive Shielding Paint? If so, should I be careful about something when I apply the paint like "don't paint there but paint here" kind of stuff?

Btw, I have a 77 Fender JB

Shielding only stops radio frequency waves from dimmer packs, fluorescent lighting, etc.. The single coil hum is caused by the alternating current of the electrical supply to the amp and only humbucking pickups will eliminate it. When both P'ups on a j are at the same volume, they humbuck; as soon as they're out of balance, hum returns.

Shielding is still a good idea though. You can use paint or copper foil tape and put it in every cavity. Then you have to connect it to ground. Screw a wire into the body so it contacts the paint.

How am I gonna connect it to ground? Can you explain it a little bit more please if I may ask?

Screw a wire with the end looped around the screw into the body so it touches the paint and solder the other end to the circuit ground on a pot or jack lug.
