Confused

Hi, I'm new to this site, actually this is my first post.
Anyway,my question to all my fellow low Ender's out there is, i have epiphone Thunderbird pro series IV bass and i recently bought a Ampeg BA 112.
Now i don't know if it's my bass or the amp(i can't see it being my Bass because I had an old dean Markley amp before this one) anyway i find when I'm playing through my 112 if i have it turned up past 4 it gets this weird sqauking noise.
I'm just wondering if someone out there can give some insight as to something i might be doing wrong.

HEY Robakatwitch!

How's it going?

Did you sort out the squeal? Was it just feedback or something else?
Actually yeah,i did.
It turned out you guys were right,i was to close to amp,(plus i all my tone and volume knobs turned way off. Thanks for the feedback guys cheers.
Oh,lol. Just to let you know, your comment about that effect being put a peddle cracked me up, especially since i think i actually might have replicated the sound with this old Behringer pedal i have. Lol.
Anyway, thanks again guys.
