It certainly makes one want to be part of it!
I started playing bass in December of 2019, it was something I'd been saying I wanted to do for many years. I was in a particular place in my life where I decided I should start walking the walk, rather than keep talking endlessly about the things I wanted to achieve and do.
I wasn't completely new to the bass, as my parents are classical musicians. My mom is a percussionist and my dad a double bass player. I had one of my first moments of bass-playing camaraderie with him when he admitted to me in secret that he had bought another double bass... That his wife doesn't know about yet.
It has been a great experience so far, and rare are the days when I don't at least noodle a few scales and modes.
