Connecting 1 headphone to 2 amps - how?

I need help and I wonder whether there's anybody else doing this.

I have 2 amps. What I want to do is to use the 2 headphone jacks of the amps together by using 1 headphone only. That is, I don't want to switch between 2 seperate headphones which would be annoying, wouldn't it?

Can someone tell me how this works? Do I need any device in between the headphone and the 2 phone jacks? And if so, what device would you recommend?

You'd need some sort of mixer to sum the two inputs into one mix.

A small mixer like the Mackie 402. Run each headphone out from the amps to separate inputs in the mixer and plug your headphones into the mixer's headphone output.

Would you connect the 2 TRS (stereo) plugs coming from the 2 amp's phones out jacks to line in 1 and 2 or line in 3 and 4 inputs? Does it matter anyway?

Yeah just go from the headphone out on the amps into either channel on the mixer.

I want to switch between my 2 amps by using a headphone in order not to disturb my neighbours.

It might be easier just to plug the headphones into one amp, then the other.

Why are you making this so complicated? It takes a couple of seconds to swap the headphone plug over

Reminds me of the story (might be urban legend, but I doubt it) of how the US worked for years to create a pen that astronauts could use in zero gravity, the UUSR decided a pencil would work fine.
