Consistancy in reference to speaker configuration

I play through an Ashdown ABM500/Bergantino NA 6x10 rig and I have had only one issue. This rig has a pretty warm sound, but in some rooms it's just rumble and at times notes sound almost unrecognizable. I know some rooms can be just difficult, but I was wondering if I was using a 4x10 or 1x15 would minimize the weirdness. I love the 6x10 but it is not neccessary for venues I play. Thanks...
