Good to hear. I am seriously considering a German bow from Jordan Scapinello.
I’ll try and get the stars to align.

I added McGill to the list at around 3k; his website says his bows start around 2300 USD.

If McGill does make the Marchand bows, maybe he uses factory frogs or somesuch to keep the cost down.

EDIT: Mr. McGill has informed us that he is not the maker of the "Marchand" bows.

I have one of Andrew McGill's bass bows. I paid 3000GBP for it, and I think it was a bargain. It's a wonderful bow and he's an excellent guy, very easy to deal with.

I might add that the only thing that I didn’t like about all the Scapinello bows I tried in the process of finding my bow, was that every single one I tried was up there with or better than anything else I have tried before. I found all of his bows to be very powerful and perfectly balanced, which made choosing the right one very hard. I only managed to decide with the help of one other player’s ears and hands- but the bow I ended up buying is ieasily the one piece of gear I am most happy about and consider the best “deal”. I would have paid twice as much as what I paid for it.

In my experience, Jan Strumphler definitely belongs on this list of contemporary bow makers. He doesn't seem to make "too many" bass bows, but the ones he does make are simply fantastic...
