Cool longhorn. One of the bands before us tonight (well, Sat night, Im just getting ready to hit the sack). I had to get a pic of it. I didnt talk to him, but one of my buddies said the guy told him he got it in 1969. Just wanted to share.
That is a very cool looking bass. Looks to be a long scale. Most Longhorns that I've seen were short scale. I have short scale reissue with flats that I really do like.
It looks light enough, I'd probably just tie the strap to the headstock acoustic guitar style. That'd kill the neck dive.
Yeah, I guess it was a 70s/80s Hondo... so I guess he didn’t get it in ‘69. I really wasn’t paying close-enough attention, but noticed the pickups later when I was going over the pics I uploaded from the gig. I don’t know that much about the older/vintage stuff, I’m more new to this, but it was cool to see, and I think he was flattered that I came up to take pics. He was up there taking pics of us later, so I felt good that I did that for him. All-in-all a fun little concert, benefit for a good cause, and real close to home.
I bought one when they came out in the mid 80s, so no he didn't get the Hondo in 1969! It was a nice bass, played it for years, sold it to a friend and may buy it back someday.
