Jerry Scheff played bass on the Doors LA Woman album, and did session work for two dozen other bands/artists.
He also played with the TCB band for Elvis from 1969 to 1977.
The Doors asked him to join the band after LA Woman was recorded but Jim Morrison died before that came to fruition.

Well, the Doors as Manzarek Krieger and Densmore did continue after Morrison's death, releasing two albums (that, interestingly, really didn't suck). Do you know if Scheff was on those? Or other studio guys? Or any bass at all? (I'm too lazy to look up all the personnel for those two "lost last Doors albums").

Jerry later played with the "other" Elvis in the mid-to-late '80s, appearing on the King of America and Kojak Variety albums. Here he is with EC, Pete Thomas, Larry Knechtel, Marc Ribot, Michael Blair and I'm not sure of the last person.

Scheff (and six other bass players) were on the first one and Leland Sklar and several other bass players were on the second one.

Scheff (and six other bass players) were on the first one and Leland Sklar (and some other bass players) was on the second one.

So it appears that as "the Doors" were petering out, they stayed with the instrumental trio with studio musician enhancement model for recording.

Yes he did play bass on their first post Jim album - Other Voices.

He played bass on these three songs:
Wandering Musician
Down on the Farm
I'm Horny I'm Stoned

Jack Conrad played bass on three other songs
Wolfgang Melz played bass on one song
Ray Neapolitan played bass on one song
Willie Ruff played bass on one song

I had never listened to those post-Jim Doors albums till maybe a year ago. I was surprised that - while really not particularly characteristic of the "classic Doors sound" - they were pretty decent albums.
