Look at all the Fender guitars and amps

No FOH, No monitors, curly guitar cables, no pedals, No guitar stands, No guitar tuners (someone gimme an E) No mic'd drums, No stage mixer....there's my youth in a photo.

But you had to be able to play to get the gig, so every band had a reasonable degree of competence as the market was very competitive.
Stands to reason, as CBS owned both their record company(Columbia), and Fender at the time, but that's the only shot I've ever seen of Sam Andrew(or James Gurley) without an SG.
The thing about that band, when manager Albert Grossman, who had guided the careers of Peter, Paul, & Mary and Bob Dylan, was brought in to handle BB, he immediately pushed for Janis to ditch them, due to their ramshackle performances, which she did, not long after Cheap Thrills was released. Album producer John Simon wasn't that impressed with them either, and even the hippie media of the day like Rolling Stone and the LA Free Press gave them less than stellar gig reviews.
